Course Description

Create graphical user interfaces that incorporate components of Swing and the Abstract Windowing Toolkit. Learn to apply practical exception- handling techniques to deal with errors generated when you run your programs. Other topics include using input and output streams to interact with external data and laying out your GUI applications effectively.

In this class, you will learn how to: 

  • How to use JDBC to connect to a database and to do selects, inserts, updates, and deletes. 

  • Understand the features and uses of Swing and the AWT. 

  • Use AWT’s event-handling capabilities to respond to user events. 

  • Work with layout managers to organize interface components on screen. 

  • Create graphical user interfaces (GUI) that include a variety of components, like buttons, 

  • text fields, radio buttons, combo boxes, menus, and toolbars. 

  • Use Color and Font objects to change the color and font of text in your interfaces. 

  • How to read and write to a file. 

  • Create a web application 

Prerequisites

Intermediate Java Programming or equivalent experience.
