Course Description

With CSS, you can control the appearance and layout of your web pages and create visually stunning pages that include opacity, shadows, gradients, rounded corners, and specialized fonts, all without requiring image files. With the new selectors, you can easily select subsets of page elements to quickly style your pages. Learn how to make your layouts more flexible with media queries, which can provide different style sheets optimized for different media, making it easier for you to ensure that users on any kind of device are able to see and use your page. Additional topics include creating animations and 2-D transformations.

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Use media queries to create separate layouts for the same content that is optimized for the variety of devices now browsing the web.

  • Embedding web fonts so that your pages are not limited to the "web safe fonts" without requiring you to use images of the text in order to use the font of your choice.

  • Using CSS, rather than image files, to create gradients of color, control the opacity of content, and apply shadows to box-elements and to text.

  • Use more powerful border options, including rounded corners.

  • Efficiently select a wider range of elements with selector options based on attribute properties or HTML DOM position rather than simply by class or id.

  • Apply 2-D transformations to content and add transitions and animations to content.
