Course Description

This course teaches you how to combine the electronic capabilities of InDesign with established principles of design and layout. Topics include using a grid, call outs, and optical center. Other topics include page flow, typography, white space, paper and ink selection, planning for multi-page documents, and using spot color. Learn to prepare your documents for a commercial printer or service bureau.

By the end of this course, you will be able to: 

  • Best practices for managing whitespace. 

  • Standard methods for formatting font. 

  • Creating reader-friendly text. 

  • Tips on when and how to use image files in your publication. 

  • Designing your document for printing. 

  • The application of a consistent style through your work. 

Prerequisites

Intermediate Applications of InDesign or equivalent experience.
